A desk made from recycled timber, linoleum and scaffolding tube
Table MAASLAND BIG is distinguished by its industrial appearance. The piece captivates through its material mix of rough steel combined with a table plate of wood and anti-static, ecological, elegant linoleum. Clever solutions such as cable tunnels complete the purist design and optimise its function for office spaces.
The frame of galvanized steel tube carries a 45 mm-thick, layered table plate. The sturdy 42 mm-thick plate, with rounded and polished edges, consists primarily of three layers of spruce wood. The surface of the table plate is finished with 2 mm-thick desktop-linoleum, which provides a matte, soft look and feel. The pleasantly warm, resilient surface is both durable and elegant. In addition, linoleum is made from renewable raw materials such as linseed oil, resins, wood, limestone powder and, like all JOHANENLIES products, from harmless colour pigments. The underside of the table top consists of 1 mm-thick HPL: a laminate which is compressed under pressure from several layers of resin-coated paper. The wooden edges of the table plate are treated with environmentally friendly organic oil.
The two rectangular cable ducts with covers are the functional highlight of MAASLAND BIG; they ensure that the model functions as a work and conference table in office spaces, whilst being equally suited to dining and living rooms as part of an extraordinary set, for example when combinated with the THEO bench.
The product is individually customisable, as special requests can be made regarding dimensions and finishes. The illustrated model has a length of 270 cm, a height of 74 cm, a width of 140 cm, and features two cable tunnels. The table plate is finished with desktop-linoleum in the colour 4155 Pewter, however, 21 different linoleum colours are available upon request.
